US: More People To Be Jobless Thanks To Robots
In the US, more people will be jobless thanks to robots. The robots will bring manufacturing back to the United States.
China has beat the United States as the biggest manufacturer in the world.
The United States once dominated global manufacturing. But according to The Bureau of Labor Statistics, US manufacturing’s share of GDP has shrunk more than 50% in just the last 50 years.
Today, all eyes are on China, who accounted for over 28% of global manufacturing output as of 2019.
We all know why the US moved manufacturing overseas. To cut cost, which meant fewer jobs.
Manufacturing accounts for over 30% of China’s total economy.
A company called Ally Robotics has a mission to bring manufacturing back to the US.
Its always a good thing when someone wants to do good in the world. My question is, why can’t manufacturing jobs be reopened here in the US?
There are manufacturing companies who closed their doors in the US, why not reopen them to cut cost?
Some use the excuse that one of the biggest reasons the United States has lost its edge is it’s cheaper to manufacture overseas.
This all has to do with labor cost and corporate taxes.
Conclusion
There are enough workers to fill the jobs in the US. Robots will be a benefit to some extent.
Experts claim, robotics can fill the gap and slash costs. Let’s be honest, its all about profits!
The more robots, the more profit the company gets to keep. Fewer humans mean, less labor cost, health insurance, taxes, retirement benefits and so on!
Robotics is not the answer for US manufacturing. The concept that a robot can literally learn how to perform tasks by watching a human do it first–no coding required. Sounds great right?
Being jobless doesn’t look so good for US citizens does it?
Manufacturing in the US used to be the envy of the world. Onshore manufacturing will not fight off inflation when government officials keep spending recklessly.
At the end of the day I will be honest. There is a growing demand for automation.
Jobs such as in the food industry, performing repetitive tasks, writing articles online, and security would be better for robots.
It’s key that the United States is a first-mover in implementing automation.
Automation is a good thing so long as its not taking away human jobs.
